After the completing our one year commitment in Friday Harbor we still needed to generate income for the cruising kitty so Laura accepted another position with West Marine. Shilshole Bay Marina is located at the entrance to Lake Washington and is a short distance, as the boat sails, North of Seattle.  Within walking distance of the Marina is the city of Ballard which is a working class neighborhood located on the waterfront.  Seattle is a bicycle friendly city but watch for the hills.

Week-end Farmer's Markets, micro breweries and pubs abound. Don't forget to check out the statue of Lenin while walking through the Fremont District.  Bell Harbor is a short hop around the corner from Shilshole and is located in the heart of the Seattle waterfront.  Perfect for a week-end getaway.
